Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Parts of Virginia

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for parts of Prince William, Stafford and Fauquier counties through 10 p.m. Locals may experience high winds and quarter-sized hail.

The rest of the region is expected to see rain after 9 p.m. Thursday but not the severe storms that were previously predicted, Storm Team 4 Chief Meteorologist Doug Kammerer said in an update.

Showers are expected Friday, and then heavier storms Saturday.

Baseball fans hoping to catch the action as the Nationals close out their series with the Atlanta Braves may want to bring an umbrella. The end of the game could be wet.

Severe storms on Tuesday caused multiple power outages and led to a fatal crash when a 79-year-old driver struck a tree that had fallen across a road in Poolesville, Maryland.
