Porter, IN snow 11/18/08

We are in for an unusually cold, wintry pattern for mid-November.

If this continues, it will break a string of four "mild" winters and mean a "cold winter" for the East Coast.

There are some differences in the overall patterns from past winters, and my winter outlook has some good news for lovers of winter weather.

I'll explain why, but also why there is some good news for folks who aren't thrilled with this recent spell of January in November.
