As Hurricane Irene moves toward the East Coast, officials at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport are advising travelers to check ahead for flight status information before heading to the airport.
A number of airlines have announced travel advisories and revised ticketing policies ahead of Hurricane Irene. In addition, airlines may cancel flights before or during the storm.
“BWI Marshall Airport is working to plan for this significant storm,” said airport Executive Director Paul J. Wiedefeld. “Advance notice of the storm has allowed us to prepare by monitoring terminal and airfield drainage, checking generators, and securing any equipment that may become airborne as a result of high winds.”
Customers traveling in coming days may also want to consider utilizing covered parking in either the Daily Garage or the Hourly Garage.
Customers are advised to monitor airline or airport websites to be aware of possible flight cancellations.
