Snow fell in parts of the region Monday morning, leading to school delays and closures south and west of the District.

With road temperatures above freezing, the snow wasn't expected to pile up on roadways, but streets were slick in some parts.

The snow accumulated mostly on grassy areas, with up to 3" in western Culpeper County and 1"-2" in Prince William County and surrounding counties. The National Weather Service said that Reagan National Airport got a trace amount of snow, while .8 inches were reported at Washington Dulles International Airport.

Several school districts in Virginia reported closures and delays, including several that switched from two-hour delays to full closures due to road conditions.

The snow ended across most of the region around 10 a.m. Temperatures will remain in in the 30s, with rain likely in the afternoon and evening.

A winter storm warning is in effect for far western Maryland through 2 p.m. Monday.
