Storm Team4 has the forecast for March 9, 2016. (Published Wednesday, March 9, 2016)

Break out your shorts! The D.C. area is getting record warmth this week.

Much of the region reached the low 80s by Wednesday afternoon, breaking the record highs at both Dulles International Airport and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

The old record for both was 79 degrees, but Dulles reached 80 Wednesday and BWI hit 81.

Reagan National Airport won’t set a record high Wednesday, but the day is still gorgeous with temperatures running 30 degrees above normal. If you're planning on dining out Wednesay evening, expect temps in the low 70s nefore they fall into the comfortable 60s.

Virginia Railway Express (VRE) said heat restrictions are in effect on its Fredericksburg Line from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, and VRE said the farther that riders travel on the line, the longer their delays will be. Those traveling to Franconia/Springfield will only have a two-minute delay, but those headed all the way to Fredericksburg will have a delay of about 11 minutes. Crews will do everything they can to make up time along the way to minimize delays, VRE said.

And the warm weather definitely isn't done yet -- Thursday could break even more records. The current record high for March 10 is 78 degrees; Thursday is expected to reach 80 degrees.

While the weather sounds perfect for a car wash, Segal says you may want to hold off. Isolated showers are possible Thursday night. The late night rain will also bring slightly cooler weather to the region.

Friday's temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 60s with a breeze.

The weekend will be just as lovely, but you may want to have an umbrella handy Sunday, and there's an even better chance for showers at the beginning of the work week.

Also, don't forget to set your clocks forward an hour on Sunday for Daylight Saving Time.
