Three Metrorail lines will be under construction this weekend.
Service adjustments on the Orange, Silver and Blue lines will begin at 10 p.m. Friday and continue through system closing Sunday. Trains on those lines will operate every 24 minutes to allow for safety and reliability improvements.
The Red, Yellow and Green line trains will operate on a normal schedule.
The improvements are part of a $5.5 billion investment by Metro to install new rails, ties, platforms, escalators, signals, lighting, communications systems and more.
The investment is the largest capital investment and work effort since the system's original construction in the 1970s.
