Stretch of Metro's Green Line Closed for 2 Weeks

A stretch of Metro's Green Line is closed for two weeks -- starting Saturday -- as crews complete a major capital improvement project.

The Branch Avenue and Suitland stations will be closed through Aug. 20. Metro says the Naylor Road Station will be closed Aug. 12 and 13 and Aug. 19 and 20.

During the closure, crews will completely rebuild a cross-over where trains move from one track to the other. Metro says it's better for both tracks to be out of service for this type of project. Other maintenance work will also be completed during the closure.

Shuttle buses will replace trains at the closed stations. Riders who use Branch Avenue are encouraged to consider using the Anacostia or Southern Avenue stations instead.

Metro says the Green Line will operate on a regular schedule outside of the work area.
