Redskins Season Opener Could Mean Traffic Mess Monday Evening

Monday Night Football could make a bigger-than-usual mess of traffic next week.

Tens of thousands of Washington Redskins fans will be heading to FedEx Field the same time commuters will be heading home Monday evening.

Commuters should avoid the eastern portion of the Beltway Monday evening if at all possible.

As for the 85,000-plus fans expected for the game against the Philadelphia Eagles, "You better leave early,” fan Lamont Meredith said. “You better leave three, maybe four hours early."

There aren’t any shortcuts, but the Morgan Boulevard Metro Station is less than a mile away.
