Oops! Dump Truck Gets Stuck Under Beltway Overpass

Authorities in Maryland say a contract dump truck got stuck under an overpass along the Capital Beltway, causing backups on the inner loop.

Maryland State Highway Administration spokesman David Buck says the dump truck had its bed up too high and got stuck early Friday morning on Interstate-495 near Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.

Buck says that around 10 a.m. the backup was about eight miles. Buck says bridge inspectors were out at the scene and a welder was en route to cut the bed from the truck.

One lane of traffic was getting by.
