Riders Will No Longer Be Able to Add Value to SmarTrip Cards on Alexandria Buses

Riders using local buses in the city of Alexandria will have to plan ahead to pay for their trips.

Starting Wednesday, riders will no longer be able to add value to their SmarTrip cards onboard DASH buses.

Instead, officials say riders will have to add value to their cards online, at Metrorail stations and at Alexandria CVS and Giant locations. Customers can also pay the $1.60 fare with cash or use a DASH Pass, which costs $40 and provides unlimited rides on the buses for a month.
