New Metrobus Line to Provide Faster, Limited-Stop Service

Better service for Metro's Washington customers

Metro announced today that a new bus line will serve customers in the District of Columbia.

The faster, limited-stop route X9 will take passengers between Capitol Heights Metrorail Station and 13th and H streets NW in downtown Washington, D.C., beginning Dec. 20. Buses will run every 15 minutes during the morning and evening rush hours.

The changes were influenced by customer demand, Metro officials said in a statement released today. The new service will not add any additional costs to the system’s budget, according to Metro.

Metro also announced today that it would make several other route changes in D.C.  Route H6 will be rerouted in Fort Lincoln to provide service to the Wesley House Senior Apartments and Route 32 will get one additional weekday westbound trip between the Southern Avenue and Foggy Bottom Metrorail stations.

The service changes were approved by the Metro Board of Directors in September.
