Metro to Open Two Hours Early Saturday for Rock ‘n' Roll Marathon

Metro will open two hours early Saturday to get participants to the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon on time, but riders should be aware of work on three lines, as well as Metrobus service changes, WMATA said.

The system will open at 5 a.m. Saturday. Those heading to the marathon should use Federal Triangle, Smithsonian or Archives stations to get to the start line.

There are also some other service changes you should know about for the weekend -- particularly if you're planning on traveling on the Green Line, or to or from the eastern end of the Blue/Silver lines.

On the Green Line, trains will operate run 16 minutes throughout the weekend.

On the Silver Line, trains will run between Wiehle-Reston East and Stadium-Armory at regular weekend intervals. However, trains will leave only every 20 minutes from Largo Town Center, Morgan Boulevard, Addison Road, Capitol Heights and Benning Road.

On the Blue Line, trains will run between Franconia-Springfield and Stadium-Armory at regular weekend intervals. But again, trains will leave only every 20 minutes from Largo Town Center, Morgan Boulevard, Addison Road, Capitol Heights and Benning Road.
