Metro Launches New Twitter Accounts

There are some new ways for Metro riders to get information about their trains and buses.

WMATA launched three new Twitter accounts Wednesday, which will allow commuters to get more detailed alerts.

Follow @Metrorailinfo for information on train detours, delays and track work. @Metrobusinfo will give service information for metro buses.

Both accounts will also provide 2-way customer support.

Metro Transit Police have their own account too. @MetroTransitPD will give crime prevention tips and investigation updates. However, WMATA urges riders not to use the Twitter handle as a means to contact police during an emergency. Riders should instead call Metro Transit Police at (202) 962-2121 or 911.
