No Shadow Expected in Punxsutawney

To see or not to see a shadow... that is the question. Good 'Ol Punxsutawney Phil the groundhog is gearing up for his annual prognostication at Gobblers Knob in Punxsutawney, Penn., this Thursday.

This unscientific meteorologist will wake from his winter slumber to delight us (or perturb us) with his 126th winter prediction. Shadow or no shadow, we’re certain this East Coast warm spell will make up for any winter blues we seem to have -- although odds favor clouds over sunshine Thursday morning because of a fast approaching southwest storm. Good luck, Punxsy, we won’t judge!

The Groundhog Day event (1548 Woodland Ave., Punxsutawney, Penn.) feature music, fireworks and live entertainment and of course lots of fun with Phil's top-hat wearing keepers, aptly named the "Inner Circle."

Take a tour of the historic town and snap photos of all 32 of the 6 foot tall fiberglass statues of Phil himself. Each statue was hand-crafted by local artists from around the region. Or become an evil (mwhahaha) meteorologist and create a thunderstorm using the Accuweather Green Screen at The Weather Discovery Center downtown.

The gates to Gobblers Knob open at 3 a.m. Feb. 2 with the prediction at 7:20 a.m.
