Cost Plus, Inc. announced plans to shutter 26 stores across the country due to poor sales and declining revenue, reports Public Works Online.

Upon completion of its plan to restructure, Cost Plus will operate 270 stores in 98 markets covering 30 states.

D.C. area stores on the chopping block include the World Market in Tyson's Corner (2051 Chain Bridge Road Vienna, Va) and Germantown (20904 Frederick Road Germantown, Md). No further closings in the area have been planned.

The company is a leading specialty retailer of casual home living and entertaining products.
