Green With Fashion

Fashion Is Spinach threw its first vintage pop-up sale last weekend

We hope you stopped by before your share of the greens ran out! Betsy Lowther, author of D.C. fashion blog Fashion Is Spinach hosted her own vintage pop-up boutique this weekend at Proper Topper's Georgetown location.

When she's not working as an FW editor, Lowther uses Fashion Is Spinach to keep all us District fashionistas in the loop about must-haves and must-go-to's of the fashion world. But after years of shopping her way through life in places such as Beijing, Singapore and NYC, Lowther finally decided to share some of her faves with the rest of us.

"There comes a time in every fashionista’s life where she looks at her wardrobe and says, 'Where on earth did I acquire enough clothing to fill eleventythousand closets?'," Lowther wrote on her blog.

Lucky for us, that meant shopping! The pop-up ran throughout last weeked, with handpicked vintage clothing, accessories and cute collectibles at horrible-economy prices: $20 dresses, $10 bags, $30 coats. It kicked off Saturday with champagne and snacks, and Lowther showed us the decimated racks only a couple hours after opening. She put out some new pieces Sunday for the second-day set.

Can we expect any more of these pop-up boutiques? Judging from the success of the first one, Lowther is thinking yes... but it'll be awhile before she builds up her supply of cute vintage pieces again, she told us -- so think warm-weather sales.
