Some of the most expensive houses in the nation are found in Virginia. But now there’s a push to provide some housing that is a bit more affordable.
A new website has been created for Gov. Bob McDonnell’s Housing Policy Advisory Committee. The website, www.VirginiaHousingPolicy.com, contains information about the initiative, including meeting dates and other information.
The committee is seeking comments and ideas on ways to provide affordable housing, promote sustainable communities and address the needs of the homeless.
The website provides the following description: “Along with a good job, affordable housing provides the building blocks for the American Dream. Housing has been a major force in the prosperity of the Commonwealth. A healthy economic environment for housing significantly contributes to the vitality of the overall economy.”
An interim housing policy report will be presented at the Governor's Housing Conference in November.
