Beer geeks in the 'burbs converge for the launch of New Belgium's 2012 batch of "La Folie"

Beer geeks in the 'burbs converge on Rustico  Tuesday night for the launch of New Belgium's 2012 batch of "La Folie," a brown sour brew aged in French oak barrels.

Rustico's resident suds-slingers will also be pouring a bunch of other sour sips from the popular Colorado brewer's Lips of Faith series, including Kick, Clutch and Biere de Mars.

For the most studious malt-and-hops aficionados, the bar will be streaming live commentary from the New Belgium brewing team out in Fort Collins. Admission is free. And all beers are available in taster-sized and full-pour portions.

Coming up: Tickets are now on sale for the D.C. leg of Cochon 555, the traveling culinary competition in which five chefs battle to prepare the best menu from whole heritage breed pigs, nose-to-tail.

Competing chefs include Scott Drewno of The Source by Wolfgang Puck, Mike Isabella of Graffiato, Wes Morton of Art & Soul, Nicholas Stefanelli of Bibiana, and Ed Witt of 701.The event (priced at $125 per person for general admission;  $200 for VIP)  takes place April 22 at The Liaison Capitol Hill.
