Say it with cupcakes, everyone! Today's the first day same-sex couples can apply for marriage licenses in the District. And to celebrate, D.C. Councilmember David Catania will be handing out boxes of chocolate and vanilla Hello Cupcakes to the first 200 couples who show up.
Getting your marriage license today? Make sure it's at the Carl Moultrie Courthouse (500 Indiana Ave. N.W.) starting at 8:30 a.m. But Catania himself will be passing out the icing-topped treats between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Catania was the author of the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Equality Amendment Act of 2009, which was approved in December.
