We didn't know there was wine country in D.C. either. But we like it.

Attention all area winos! (Sorry, did that sound rude?) From July 10 to 12, the D.C. Wine Country's Food and Wine festival will inhabit historic Whitehall Manor (18301 Whitehall Estate Lane, Bluemont, Va).

What can you expect during the festivities? Wine ambassador (oooh, fancy title) Mary Watson will be on hand to welcome guests to the event and provide short seminars on the art of wine tasting. Chocolate Wanders will be offering demos and tastes of handmade gourmet chocolates. Michael Higgins of New Dynasty Glass will be displaying some of his work and demonstrating the art of glass blowing.

Soak up tastings from 20 Loudoun County wineries, plus dining ops, live entertainment and estate tours. Order your tix ($30 for per day) here.

The tasting pavilion will be open Friday and Saturday nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. The parking area and reception will open an hour before.

All right, winos. Get to work already.
