Flying from Cali to the East Coast for Thanksgiving is the ideal way to go. Unless you want to bring back the cranberry sauce, gravy or cheese.

That's when it's time to get behind the steering wheel.

Sure, the Transportation Security Administration will let you come through airport security with pies and cakes. But they'll be subject to additional screening. And who's to say some hungry security guard's not going to confiscate your baked goods for some "random" reason?

Think about it.

Meanwhile, check out the TSA's list of liquid, aerosol and gel items that you should put in your checked bag, ship ahead, or leave at home. It includes cranberry sauce, gravy, jams, jellies, salsa and snowglobes.

Because having cranberry sauce spill all over your clothes is just what you wanted for Christmas.
