Obama's Fave St. Louis Slice Heads East

Obama Called Owner After St. Louis Campaign Stop

St. Louis-based Pi Pizzeria is opening its first spot outside Missouri in D.C.'s Penn Quarter. District of Pi will be located on F Street, about seven blocks from the White House.

Why the jump so far from home? Maybe the decision was influenced by our commander-in-chief. Back in 2008, when Barack Obama was still on the campaign trail, owner and Obama supporter Chris Sommers delivered five pies to Obama's team following an event in downtown St. Louis.

According to St. Louis Magazine's food and wine blog Feast, Obama liked what he ate so much that he phoned his gratitude to Sommers himself: "Chris, this is Barack Obama. I just wanted to tell you that was the best pizza I have ever eaten -- and I’m from Chicago. And thank you also for all your hard work and campaign support."

If that doesn't convince someone to set up shop in D.C., I don't know what would.
