You mean, these aren't WHITE HOUSE carrots?!

Sure, it may not have the star power of the Obamas' planned farmers' market, but another new farmers' market is slated to open soon, reports Prince of Petworth. The market will inhabit Canal Park (200 M St. S.E.) every Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m.

The market had been scheduled to open today, but a contact at the Capitol Riverfront Business Improvement District confirmed to us that it's been pushed back at least until next week. The reason? They've been having trouble getting enough vendors involved with the endeavor so late in the season.

When it opens, the market will be located about a block from the Navy Yard Metro. This might be a great way to pass the time before witnessing yet another soul-crushing defeat at nearby Nats Park. Plus, you can munch on uber-fresh strawberries while you're waiting in line outside the stadium.
