Ketchup: Take a Dip If You Can Stand the Wait

If it's fried, we will eat it.

Inhaling drive-through french fries as you blow through yellow lights isn't exactly the best way to eat. But sometimes, you've just gotta have fries, and the people at Ketchup (152 Waterfront St., National Harbor, MD) are counting on that.

The Dolce Group, who are also the folks behind Geisha House and Les Deux in Hollywood, have added an East Coast outpost to its roster of hip eateries. The eye candy inside may not include the cast from "The Hills" (fortunately), but Ketchup does come with a list of celeb investors.
The sleek red neon decor with a mod nod of "Jetsons"-style seating is fun, much like their menu of dressed-up diner classics. You'll find it hard not to indulge in a Threesome (garlic parmesan, Old Bay and sweet potato fries). Small plates of Kobe sliders and the Jalapeno mac and cheese are can’t-miss starters.
But the real specialty on the menu is (go figure) the ketchup, which comes in multiple flavors for your dipping pleasure. All are created on-site. Drown your burgers and fries with signature chipotle, ranch or mango-flavored ketchup.
A few suggestions: The Bison burger with the ranch was a match made in heaven, and mango ketchup poured over the cedar-plank salmon was also a mouth-watering combo.
Many diners have complained about the wait, so be prepared to sling back a couple martinis at the bar. Good things come to those who wait. Remember that next time you see a yellow light.
