We heard their rice is extra sticky (OK, not really).

If there is one thing that DC is not lacking, it's Thai restaurants, but they're not all created equal. It has been a long time coming -- the opening was anticipated for the spring -- but Royal Thai Cuisine and Bar (507 H St. N.W.) has finally opened its doors.

The restaurant is located in a renovated townhouse which includes two dining rooms, one upstairs overlooking H Street and a separate room good for a dinner party or a private occasion. The first-floor bar serves up beer, wine, cocktails and coffee drinks.

The menu includes a range of appetizers, soups, entrees and dessert with traditional Thai dishes like pad thai, tom yum, curry and mango sticky rice. Prices are reasonable -- appetizers are $6 or $7, entrees are $11 to $15, and no bottle of wine is more than $35.

The spot is cute and cozy, and so far the feedback has been positive. Diners have said that the décor, music, service and (of course) the food makes Royal Thai a great new dining spot.
