Earth Day Is So Last Week... Get Ready For Veg Week

If all the Earth Week festivities have you begging for more, you may get your wish in Takoma Park. Known for its bohemian charm, Takoma Park oft plays host to artists, environmentalists, writers ... and now vegetarians.
Last night, Takoma Park Mayor Bruce Williams signed a proclamation officially declaring April 24 through April 30 Takoma Park Veg Week.
The week will begin on Friday in with a kickoff party from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the lobby of the Takoma Business Center. The party will feature the Takoma Park City Council and Sen. Jamie Raskin, who is pledging to go one week without meat. Good luck senator, if you feel faint, grab some tofu, skip the beef jerky.
If you can’t make it in time to watch the senator pledge no meat, you can always pledge your vegetarianism for a week as well, just register here.
There are some vegetarian specials at local restaurants throughout the week.
