  • Since giving you an exclusive first look at "Top Chef" star Mike Isabella's forthcoming Penn Quarter eatery, Graffiato, we've been keeping tabs on its progress. So far, many of his challenges have involved the slow-going process of procuring permits. There are a lot of them -- permits for demolition, construction, and interestingly, the Chinese banner that will hang on the building's exterior. All storefronts in Chinatown are required to have the restaurant's name in Chinese, and Graffiatio's -- which has finally been approved -- will also feature words like 'food,' 'fire,' 'wood,' 'excitement' and 'drink.' More details here.
