Barbeque in the Beltway

Normally when we think of the top places to grab tasty barbeque, the District is not the first city that comes to mind. However, Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company has defied that stereotype over the years, becoming synonymous with barbeque. The best part about Rocklands is that you won’t break the bank.

This AOL City’s Best pick for the best barbeque has four locations in and around DC. Although limited seating available, you hardly ever see any of these restaurants empty.

The menu features dishes made with chicken, lamb, beef, and fish, in addition to the traditional pork options. Popular picks include the baby-back ribs and chopped pork sandwich. Surpisingly, vegetarians won’t feel left out with a couple of options like the grilled vegetable entrée.

A wide array of sides including barbequed baked beans, Texas corn pudding, and potato salad are offered to accompany each dish. There’s even lemonade and fresh brewed sweet tea.

While the desserts menu is not extensive, walnut brownies and chocolate chip cookies will complement the down home dining experience.

Rocklands also offers take out and a separate catering menu. No need to worry if you didn’t get enough sauce with your meal either. A variety of bottled sauces are sold and ready to go when you are.
