Clarendon's new Crumbs Bake Shop is giving away a free cupcake to each first 1,000 customers Saturday, Jan. 8 to celebrate its grand opening, reports Arl Now.

It's safe to say D.C. has no shortage of cupcakeries, but aside from Justin Stegall's delightful Bake Shop (1025 N. Filmore St.), Arlington's been lacking a bit. Leave it to the 'burbs to be this slow in embracing 2008's trend.

Crumbs, a popular national chain, opened its location at 2839 Clarendon Blvd. on Dec. 30, in the same row as Lululemon and across from the Container Store. Doesn't get much more Clarendon than that, to be honest.

Crumbs will also be giving away free cups of coffee with any cupcake purchase -- but if you want your free cupcake, you'd btter be up and at 'em on Saturday -- the place opens at 9 a.m.
