Now the designers behind ReVamp are turning the tradition on its head by creating a necktie for women out of recycled fabric.

Redesigned from vintage ties they collected at a church sale, these "lady ties" replace the long-tailed design of their male counterparts with a bow-like cross held together by a vintage button.

ReVamp can barely keep up with demand as locals have been snatching them up to give as unique gifts or as one-of-a-kind accessories to wear to the 2nd annual D.C. Tweed Ride.
