Pay to Shop: This Time, It's OK

Don't let the $40-$200 price tag deter you. We're talking designer clothes dirt-cheap here.

Listen, we know there have been a lot of sales lately.

We're going to admit something very, very shocking: Forget about them ALL.

If you're forced to pick only one sale to attend this season, it has to be the twice-annual District Sample Sale, coming up next on Sept. 16 at 3336 M St. N.W.

Yes, even though it costs money to get in.

For $40, you can shop the sale from 6:30-9:30 p.m., but the VIP tickets ($100) and benefactress tickets ($200) get you in one precious hour earlier.

This cost will yield a fabulous goodie bag, which is a bit better at the benefactress level, but the VIP bag generally contains full-sized beauty products, giftcards to local boutiques and spas, a baby-doll tee and more.

The sale moved into a new space in Georgetown last spring, with high ceilings, wide skylights, secret lofts and exposed bricks -- in other words, the setting might make you forget you're at a sale and put you in the mood to party instead.

And that's fine, too. What's gonna stop you, the full bar? Not bloody likely.

Food includes heavy apps like mini paninis and chicken satay. Georgetown Cupcake was a sponsor last spring, so we're keeping our fingers crossed for the mere opportunity to drop icing onto our new purchases again.
