Miss Virginia Named Second Runner-up in Miss USA

Jeffersonton resident almost takes top spot at pageant

Miss Virginia came oh-so-close to taking home the top crown Sunday in Donald Trump's 2010 Miss USA pageant. Samantha Casey, who hails from Jeffersonton, Va., finished as the second runner-up.

Miss Michigan Rima Fakih won the title of Miss USA and Miss Oklahoma Morgan Elizabeth Woolard finished first runner-up.

Casey is a marketing major at the College of William and Mary. She will return this fall after taking off this spring to train and prep for the national pageant.

The 21-year-old was tough competition during the pageant, earning an 8.7 in the evening gown portion and swimsuit competition. During Casey’s final question, she said BP was not entirely responsible for the massive oil spill, but it needs to take responsibility for what happened. “But at the same time, I think we need to figure out better ways of finding alternative energy fuels and reducing our dependency on oil in general.”

Casey is not new to winning Trump’s pageants. Casey won Miss Virginia Teen USA and placed third runner-up at the national Miss Teen 2006.

Fakih will represent the United States this summer in the 2010 Miss Universe pageant. She also receives jewelry, a one year-leased apartment in New York City, a one-year supply of CHI Hair products, a New York Film Academy scholarship worth $100,000 toward acting classes, a Sherri Hill wardrobe and designer shoes by Nina.
