Herndon Woman Gets “Today Show” Makeover

Grandma of 12? Yes, Really

A Herndon, Va. grandmother of 12 was selected out of a crowd this morning for an ambush makeover on "The Today Show."

Sarah Taber, 62, has been married to her husband, Charles, for 38 years. She has four kids, a dozen grandkids and another on the way. And she's had the same look since sixth grade and had never colored her hair before.

On her very first trip to New York, she and her husband got up early to try to get on the Today Show. "I'm gonna be the cake and you're gonna be the decorator," she said, post-selection and pre-makeover.

Taber had her hair transformed into a sleek, multi-layered bob, and had her grays replaced with a soft brown and highlights. She changed into a Tahari for Macy's top and Hello! Skinny Jeans.

"Oh, hi!" she said to her new reflection in the mirror, obviously thrilled.

You can catch her on NBC4's Daily Connection (2-3 p.m.) this Monday, Aug. 23.
