With the weather luring neighbors outside Saturday, it's not just about the cherry blossoms. If you're ISO some neighborhood fun, the place to go is Columbia Heights. The planners of the annual Columbia Heights Day is teaming up with the Tivoli North Business Association for a rockin' good old time for everyone:
- Big Community Yard Sale at the park at 11th and Monroe streets N.W. Find those exotic one-of-a-kind treasures you can only find in cool multicultural places like Columbia Heights. Put together a new spring wardrobe with the gently worn apparel you definitely won't find at the mall.
- Block Party: family zone with kids' games, inflatable toys, popcorn and plenty of food -- and plus local musicians to keep everyone movin'.
- Spring Cleanup: Volunteer to spiff up the neighborhood after a looooong winter. Meet at 14th and Ogden streets N.W. in the morning, every first Saturday of the month through September.
This is a great way to meet new friends who are environmentally motivated. See the map of yard sale sites and events here.
Plus, you'll be staying far, faaaar away from the Tidal Basin/National Mall congestion.
