We Meet Again, Sculpture Garden Ice Rink

The Sculpture Garden ice rink will finally open for the season this Thursday, Dec. 10. The rink usually opens in mid-November, but the coolant system needed repairs. Sad!

Now they think we'll be easily won over by a free cup of hot chocolate, available Dec. 12-13 with rink admission ($6-$7). Actually, a free cup of hot chocolate sounds pretty darn awesome. You win this time, National Gallery of Art!

The experience of skating in the Sculpture Garden is well worth trying to find parking on the mall. Lights and garlands surround the rink as holiday tune and jazz drift across the rink. Several times we've been subjected to French pop, which is oddly lovely to behold whilst twirling (or tripping) on the ice.

Go get your free hot chocolate while the goin' is good.
