Rapper Wale is going back to school in the District. D.C.'s own is teaming up Friday with Roscoe Dash, J. Cole and local schools for “School of Rock."

“School of Rock” is a mentoring initiative for children in schools. The aim is to increase exploration and motivation in musical arts, physical education, academic achievement and community service. The event is the kickoff to the second annual Kevin Durant and Wale Celebrity Birthday Weekend.

The celebrity participants will be visiting Mary McLeod Bethune Day Academy Public Charter School in Northeast. Students will be able to sit in classes and assembly with Wale and friends. There will be a superstar pep rally at the end of the day for the annual benchmark exams.

The event is from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. We’re sure a few students will reconsider staying home sick that day. Unfortunately for fans, the event is only for Mary McLeod Bethune Day Academy students and staff.
