Virgin Mobile FreeFest: Back With a Vengeance

Planners promise A-list performers... whoever they may be

The Virgin Mobile FreeFest is headed back to Merriweather Post Pavilion for another year, reports the Washington Business Journal.

The festival, formerly known as the Virgin Mobile Festival, had been held at Baltimore's Pimlico Race Course in years past. It moved to Merriweather in 2009, when it adapted the FreeFest moniker -- because, yes, it became free to attend.

The lineup for the Sept. 25 event has yet to be announced.

Last year's performers included Weezer, Blink-182, Franz Ferdinand and Public Enemy. Concert promoter Seth Hurwitz the Washington Business Journal that this year's acts "will be A-List from opening to closing."

Planners haven't yet announced how you can snap up tickets. Last year, although tickets through Ticketmaster were free, festival-goers were encouraged to donate $5 to agencies that help homeless youth. If patrons completed 13 hours of community service at designated youth shelters, they were able to gain access to a VIP seating section.
