The National Museum of Crime and Punishment in Washington has unveiled an exhibit featuring items from the man known for years as the Unabomber, Theodore Kaczynski.
The private, for-profit museum opened the exhibit Thursday featuring Kacsynski's passport photos, wood saw and Hanson 1509 scale that he used in his deadly attacks. The museum purchased the items in June at a government auction for $1,766.
Many other items were purchased by collectors. Other museums said they were outbid for items.
Officials at the crime museum said the Unabomber items will be a good fit for their exhibits. The museum includes a crime lab, the filming studios for “America's Most Wanted” and artifacts including John Dillinger's death mask and the VW Beetle that serial killer Ted Bundy lured his victims into.
