Sugar, Champagne, and Your Little Dog Too

Bring a dog date to the Washington Humane Society's Sugar & Champagne Affair

Once a year, it doesn't matter that your fancypants are covered in dog fur.

At the Washington Humane Society's annual Sugar & Champagne Affair, leased doggie dates are more than welcome as the human set indulges in champagne and desserts by D.C.'s top pastry chefs.

Hosted by Chef Todd and Ellen Gray of Equinox, Watershed and Muse, the event honors "local crusaders" against animal cruelty.

Admission to the VIP Chefs' Tasting Room (6-7:30 p.m.; $150) includes an exclusive savory reception offered by some of D.C.'s hottest chefs, such as Gray, Anthony Lombardo (1789), Robert Wiedmaier (Marcel's) and Todd Thrasher (mixologist, Restaurant Eve). Tickets ($150) includes admission to the general reception.

The general reception (7-9 p.m.; $90) features sweets by dozens of local spots, include Art and Soul, Citronelle, Graffiato, Pinkberry and PS7.

Oh, and doggie hors d'oeurvres come from Barkkley Square Dog Bakery, in case you were wondering (we know you were).

It's all happening Wednesday, Feb. 1 at the Ronald Reagan Building (1300 Pennsylvania Ave. NW). You can order tickets here.
