Palace of Wonders May Lose Some

Rumors of a new partnership have begun as well

It looks like the Palace of Wonders will be losing some of its wonderment.

All of the crazy memorabilia is being removed, as it apparently belongs to a museum in Baltimore, according to Prince of Petworth.

That would be the American Dime Museum, noted a PoP poster. The museum closed in Feb. 2007 due to revenue and fundraising problems, according to Roadside America. (So why exactly does the stuff have to be returned? If you've got a clue, we want to hear from you.)

The loss of its "eye-popping array of oddities, specimens, artifacts and homages to the great dime museums of the past" is not the only change ahead for the Palace. HStreetDC reports that  the vaudeville stage/burlesque bar has a new partnership in the works with Red and Black Bar

[Joe] Englert and [Gregory] Nicklas presented the merger to the ANC6a ABL committee on Tuesday night. They have to tear out a second floor wall between the two places and even out the floor levels to make one big performance space with a good stage. They can get national level bands with the additional space. The burlesque-type acts will still be featured several nights a week.

They’ll add a real kitchen with American food, featuring gourmet burgers. Food probably by Folkman and Cashion.

Why the ABL? Two liquor licenses, two voluntary agreements. They’ll have to merge them and that requires bureaucratic changes.
