MTA Prepares for Bieber Fever

Light-rail service extended

What do Justin Bieber and the Maryland Transit Administration have in common? To the delight of area teeny boppers, Bieber is coming to town for a concert at the Maryland State Fair and the MTA railways are getting ready for overwhelming "Bieber Fever".

The blond and bushy haired pop star is expected to perform in front of a sold-out crowd at the fair in Timonium this Sunday. The MTA has responded by extending light-rail service hours to ease traffic congestion.

Light rail will open at 7 a.m. operating every 60 minutes until 11 a.m. Then evening trains will operate from 8 p.m. until midnight every 30 minutes. The last trains will depart Timonium at midnight.

Extended service also includes all regular stops between Cromwell Station/Glen Burnie and Hunt Valley, including Timonium Station at the doorstep of the fairgrounds.

The fare for light rail is $1.60 each way ($0.55 for senior citizens and people with disabilities with valid identification), though cost may be of no concern to any Bieber fan trying to make it to the concert. In fact, the 15,000 or so people who populate the town of Timonium all may just show up and it could likely be the biggest event there thus far.

The 15-year-old, 5-foot-3 1/2 inch (ish) star has grabbed the hearts of fans around the world including one very large man named Shaquille O'Neal. They both competed in the basketball player's show called Shaq Vs. where he takes on celebrities in their chosen field. Bieber was one of them.
