Honor Irish With Guinness, Take a Free Taxi

Local organizations offering free cab rides for St. Patrick’s Day partiers

Nothing says St. Patrick’s Day like Irish whiskey or some green beer.  Which is why several groups are offering free taxicab rides home for people who decide to take part in the festivities.

The Washington Regional Alcohol Program says its SoberRide service will be available to residents in Washington and the counties of Montgomery, Prince George's, Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William and eastern Loudoun.

The number to call for a free cab is (800) 200-TAXI.

The program runs from 4 p.m. Wednesday until 4 a.m. Thursday, and cover fares up to $50.

AAA Mid-Atlantic, the Maryland State Highway Administration and Yellow Cab will also provide free cab rides to those in the Baltimore area.

Several police and sheriff's departments in northern Virginia and Maryland are also planning sobriety checkpoints and extra DUI patrols.  So don’t take any chances!
