The Washington Revels host a day of summer solstice celebrations from around the world. The group -- which focuses on traditional performing arts -- holds the Revels SunFest in downtown Silver Spring this Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
Dancers from Ireland, Peru, South Africa and more, as well as a parade with puppets and street dancers. Revelers will sing as the sun rises above the plaza during the Raising the Sun ceremony, accompanied by dancers representing the elements earth, fire, air and water.
Ellsworth Drive, between Georgia Avenue and Fenton Street, will be closed to traffic. Explore craft displays, food booths and performances by singers and instrumentalists on two stages. The free fest runs from 1 to 5 p.m.
