While the rest of the city stayed glued to Wolf Blitzer's every midterm-election update, Brooklyn noise-pop act Fang Island delivered some much-needed fun at the Rock and Roll Hotel.

The band plays intricate, high-energy rock (think early Weezer meets Rush) and climaxed their set with "Daisy," a euphoric track built on ascending guitars and optimistic chants: "Ooh that's all right! Hey, that's OK!"

The nearly packed house, full of folks who seemed eager but preoccupied until that point, finally let loose, throwing their hands in the air and joining the band in chorus. Four minutes of shamelessly upbeat rock music, "Daisy" was the perfect antidote to an otherwise serious night.
