Del Ray, a neighborhood in Alexandria, has always had a flare for art. They're the host to the annual Art on the Avenue, a regional multicultural arts and music festival taking place on Mt. Vernon Avenue on Saturday.
Now in its 15th year, this festival features over 300 art vendors, showcasing their paintings, sculptures, music, and more. Some sell their artwork. Children are sure to have plenty to do too with a magic show and several dancing demonstrations.
Art pairs well with snacks, and ACKC has that angle covered. There, they’ll give free ice cream for anyone who purchases one of their ceramic bowls, made by artists from the Alexandria Art League. ACKC will also feature Paper to Pearls, a Voices for Global Change program that showcases the work of Ugandan refugee women -- fine jewelry made from money.
Art on the Avenue takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is free to attend.
