Jon Stewart & Co. will take over the Shakespeare Theatre Co.’s Sidney Harmon Hall from Oct. 25-28. It’s all, obviously, part of the Comedy Central show’s Indecision 2010 coverage, and the four tapings will be grouped under the very ceremonious title of “When Grizzlies Attack: The Daily Show Midterm Teapartyganza.” The shows will air each night after the tapings at 11 p.m. Tickets are available at The Daily Show’s website. THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART TO TAPE AT SHAKESPEARE THEATRE COMPANY’S SIDNEY HARMAN HALL
Washington, D.C. – Comedy Central’s Emmy Award winning show, The Daily Show is coming to Washington, D.C. this fall. As part of its ongoing Indecision 2010 coverage of the fiercely contested midterm elections, When Grizzlies Attack: The Daily Show Midterm Teapartyganza will be taped at the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) and air nightly at 11 p.m. from October 25-October 28, 2010 on Comedy Central.
When Grizzlies Attack: The Daily Show Midterm Teapartyganza will feature news and analysis on heated races from across the country from host Jon Stewart as well as reports from The Daily Show News Team (Samantha Bee, Wyatt Cenac, Jason Jones, Aasif Mandvi and John Oliver).
Tickets for the tapings will be only available through the show’s Web site, TheDailyShow.com and not through the STC box office.
“Continuing with the tradition of producing great theatre and quality events in our spaces, we are thrilled to have this Emmy award winning show in our theatre,” said STC Managing Director Chris Jennings.
This marks the eighth time the series has taken its critically-acclaimed and award-winning Indecision coverage on the road to broadcast for a week, having previously travelled to Philadelphia (2000 RNC), Los Angeles (2000 DNC), Boston (2004 DNC), Denver (2008 DNC) and Minneapolis (2008 RNC) to cover the national party conventions, and to Washington, D.C. (2002) and Columbus, OH (2006) for special, mid-term election coverage. The series first earned its political stripes during the now-infamous 2000 election, receiving an Emmy Award and a prestigious George Foster Peabody Award for its year-long Indecision 2000 coverage of the race for the White House, feats repeated during the series’ Indecision 2004 election reporting.
The Daily Show airs Monday-Thursday at 11 p.m. and repeats at 1:30 a.m. the same night and at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. the following day.
