Celebrate Dulles Day on Saturday

An annual airfield event to benefit Special Olympics Virginia is taking place this weekend.

The Dulles Day Family Festival and Plane Pull is scheduled for Saturday at Dulles International Airport. It set an attendance record last year, with more than 20,000 spectators.

Organizers say the event has raised more than $1.1 million to benefit the Special Olympics since its first year in 1993.

The event includes food, door prize drawings and contests.

More than 60 teams of 20 to 25 members will be participating in a tug-of-war against a FedEx Express plane. The so-called Plane Pull is the top event of the day.

Events kick off at 11 a.m., and run until 4 p.m.  Click here for more details.
