Champagne as a Pain-Killer?

That tingling sensation is either from the champagne bubbles or the hot wax on your face. Definitely one or the other.

Bet you never thought hair removal could be worked into a happy hour, did you? Look, no one wants to show up somewhere with only ONE eyebrow. (Well, maybe if you're Bert from Sesame Street, but that's another matter all together).

Bubbles & Brows is May 28 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the delightfully multi-patterned Topaz Hotel (1733 N St. NW). Tickets ($15-$35) include a cocktail and a $5 gift card, which you can put toward the purchase of jewelry, handbags, summer fashion or beauty products. Shell out for the higher-end ticket and you'll score a beauty swag bag as well.

Local jewelry designer MariLani Huling of LC Beads will be attending, and brow expert/salon owner Misha Parham of My Sassy Nail Spa in Takoma Park is a sponsor. The event will bring awareness to Rachael's Women's Center, which helps homeless and formerly homeless women gain control of their lives … um, while you gain control of your eyebrows.
