The Can A Sista Rock A Mic? festival is wrapping up this weekend, with two final changes to get to know some talented, trend-setting female performers.
The festival is centered around women from all over the world who love soul and hip-hop. Dozens of live music and visual arts exhibits have been set up in and around the District since the festival's start on June 8.
It wraps up Saturday, June 19 with a documentary screening and a panel discussion at the D.C. Historical Society. The doc, called "P-Star Rising," takes you through the life of a father who redeems his own failed music career by helping his youngest daughter, Priscilla, succeed at hers. Also at the event, D.C. native Nonchalant, a radio personality on WPGC 95.5 FM, will be discussing music. It begins at 2 p.m. While it's free to attend, donations will be accepted.
