You brake for birds. You brake (less quickly) for politicians. You recycle, smile at strangers and call your mother on Sundays.
But what have all those karma-creating deeds done for you LATELY?
Yeah. Think about it.
Reward yourself for doing good, with booze, food and well -- more doing good. Tomorrow night, LIMA Restaurant (1401 K St. N.W.) hosts the first installment of Just BeCAUSE, a charity happy hour series to benefit Ready, Willing and Working.
The nonprofit aims to break the cycles of homelessness, welfare and criminal recidivism, and help participants reach permanent self-sufficiency. The group's mission statement? "We believe that every human being has the potential to be a productive, contributing member of society." Wow, we really can't argue with that one.
You can expect a few D.C. notables to attend this charity event (5-10 p.m.), including Makeda Saggau-Sackey (The Glamazon Diaries) and Katherine Kennedy (of The CW's upcoming "Blonde Charity Mafia").
For a minimum suggested donation of $10 at the door, you'll enjoy a night of complimentary passed hors d'eouvres and drink specials ($5 spirits, $5 wines and $4 beers) -- and, of course, you'll also be benefiting Ready, Willing & Working.
Just a warning: The food vanishes at 7 p.m., so arrive early if you need to coat your stomach pre-booze.
Hey, you've earned it.
